Election Process
GAMES students elect GYSP executive board members during the fall semester. To qualify for a position, you must be in good standing within GAMES and MGC and possess at least a 3.0 GPA. As leaders, GYSP members should promote respect, responsibility, diversity, and maturity by displaying elite character and integrity. If a member exhibits characteristics or actions not exemplary of a leader, thus promoting negative attitudes or behaviors, he/she may be deemed unfit to serve in GYSP and may be removed from the position.
To run for a GYSP position, you must nominate yourself by signing up when advertised. Prior to election week, you may actively campaign and you may hang posters in the designated areas of Anderson and Welch Halls. Candidates are expected to demonstrate respect and an attitude of good sportsmanship during the campaign. Any candidate (or campaign helper) caught destroying or in any way tampering with another candidate’s campaign material may result in the disqualification of the offending candidate. Campaign material cannot be derogatory of other candidates! Candidates are responsible for removing campaign material from all areas as soon as the election is over.
In order to allow more students to hold positions, you may not hold an executive position in both GYSP and SoCo. Club officer positions can be time-consuming and involve significant responsibility. Please keep this in mind when holding leadership positions on campus.
