Preview
The 2012 Warriors are expected to continue the string of winning seasons and tournament appearances the Warriors have posted for the past eight seasons. Sophomores Jordan Miller and Elliott Martin are expected to be team leaders at the plate and in the field. Fall scrimmages indicate sophomore players such as Anna Lester, Ashley Law, Susanna Stokes, Maci Brown and Mallory Davis will also make major contributions. Incoming players like Jenna Hanson, Adele Harrison, and Christian Collins will add a large dose of speed to the team while freshmen Keri Tompkins, Whitney Smith, and Kayla Mills will bring additional power to the plate. Pitching duties will be shared by three freshmen: Mills, Mallory Riner, and Katie Turner.
Review
The 2011 Warriors posted a 35-19 season record and a third place 13-7 GCAA finish. MGC also placed third in the NJCAA Region XVII tournament. 2011 was the seventh of eight consecutive years the MGC program finished in the top three of GCAA competition. Offensively the team was led by Jordan Miller .386/10 HRs/13 doubles, Lauren Yeargan .357/13HRs/13 doubles,and Elliott Martin .330/9 HRs/9 doubles. Michelle Edgtton hit .340 and was also the leader of the pitching staff as she recorded a 1.83 ERA with a 21-9 season. Miller and Yeargan were named to GCAA All Conference first team while Edgtton and Janna Anderson werer named to the second team. Edgtton and Avery Purser were named to the All Region team.
NEWS
The 2012 MGC Warriors will open the new season at home in a double header with Brewton Parker at 2:00 Wednesday Feb 1st. Following the opener, MGC will face conference foes GMC, East GA, and Waycross at 12, 2, and 4 Saturday Feb 4th in Leesburg, GA.
