STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Clubs - Cochran

Academic Quiz Bowl Team - open to all students interested in intercollegiate knowledge competition.
ATVAGAS - open to all students interested in historical knowledge of the period of 600 and 1600 of the current era and practice of the skills and crafts of the same period.
Baptist Student Union - open to students of any religious affiliation to provide fellowship and leadership. A variety of activities are scheduled each week. Contact the BSU House on Third Street or just drop by.
Cheerleaders and Dance Team - open try-outs for students interested in promoting school spirit for athletic events.
Collegiate 4-H - open to all students interested in continuing or starting their 4-H experience. Students participate in volunteer and community services as well as social activities. Leadership and personal qualities are enhanced in the 4-H experience.
ENCORE Players and Singers - open to students interested in the performing arts. ENCORE produces plays, musicals, & concert performances.
Fellowship of Christain Athletes - open to all students, athletes and non-athletes who wish to come together for fellowship.
Gamma Beta Phi - an honorary scholarship-service organization for students in colleges and universities. Membership is open to students who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and who maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. MGC Ambassadors - Membership is by application. The Ambassadors promote the college to prospective students and visitors. Members serve as tour guides on visitation days, assist with freshman orientation, and represent the college at other functions.
MGC Association of Nursing Students - open to nursing students in preparation for professional responsibilities. The organization provides an atmosphere in which nursing students can exchange ideas and strive to impact health care at a beginning level.
Minority Alliance Club - open to all students at the college and provides recreational and cultural activities, encouragement toward academic and social progress, and the development and utilization of the talents and skills to enrich the social and spiritual lives of its members
O.T.A. Student Organization - is open to O.T.A students to advance the profession of occupational therapy and to promote interest among members and non-members through activities on campus and in the community.
Phi Theta Kappa - an honorary, scholarship-service organization for students in colleges and universities. Its purpose is the advancement of educational ideals, the encouragement of scholastic effort, and the rewarding of academic merit among college students. Membership is open to students who meet the criteria for membership.
Student Art League – open to students interested in learning more about art appreciation and the various art forms.
Student Government Association - Members are elected by the students on their respective campuses at the beginning of fall semester each year. SGA serves as a forum for communication with the administration of the College. SGA meetings are open to all students.
United Voices of Praise -open to students interested in being in a gospel choir to perform on campus and off campus.

SPAGE - The Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE) is composed of undergraduate education majors and provides members with experiences in teaching, working together with other SPAGE chapters, education and improvement.

Writers Group - The Writers Group is open to any student interested in creative writing or literature. Members are invited to speak or read poetry at meetings, and special speakers such as local authors are invited occasionally to make presentations.
Drama Club - Dublin Center Stage, or Drama Club, is a greater look into the theatrical world of acting, both on stage and behind the scenes and is open to any interested student.
Intramural Sports Cochran
Middle Georgia has a great intramural and recreation program on campus. Those students interested in flag football, basketball, and softball are encouraged to sign up teams for competition. Other activities such as fun runs and Spades tournaments are available throughout the school year. Check the MGC TV for upcoming events.[ BACK ]
Movies
Movie Nights are held periodically at the Heart of Georgia Cinema in Eastman. Students are admitted for a reduced rate on these scheduled dates.[ BACK ]
BINGO NIGHTS - COCHRAN
Regular bingo nights are held in the lower level of Georgia Hall. This is always a very popular and well-attended event with great prizes and much fun for all.[ BACK ]
Dances Cochran
The Student Activities Director with the assistance of the Student Government Association plans several dances throughout the year. Included are the Homecoming Dance, Valentine Dance, Spring Fling Dance, and others. The newest dance format is the “Foam Dance” which is very popular with the students.[ BACK ]
PERFORMING ARTS - COCHRAN
ENCORE Productions entertains the campus throughout the year with plays, musicals, and show choir performances. Check posters around campus and the MGC TV for information on show dates and times.[ BACK ]
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL - COCHRAN
To celebrate the diversity of cultures on the MGC campus, this festival is held in the spring semester. Ethnic foods and entertainment are featured.
VARSITY SPORTS - COCHRAN - Middle Georgia College offers spectators eight different sports options including baseball, softball, men and women’s basketball, soccer, and cross country. Sporting events are free with current MGC ID.
HOMECOMING & SPRING FLING – COCHRAN-DUBLIN - Two of the biggest weeks of activities at MGC are Homecoming, held in the fall, and Spring Fling. Homecoming is a week full of activities and fun. The week starts out with the annual Homecoming dance with presentation of court and the crowning of the queen and king. Dublin campus students also get involved with Homecoming with the election of a King and Queen and participation in the parade. The big Homecoming parade fills Second Street from campus to downtown Cochran with many clubs and organizations, dignitaries, and marching bands. The Homecoming Game caps off the week of events.
Spring Fling is the week that students look forward to all year long. SGA and the Student Activities Director plan a week full of fun activities for all to enjoy. [ BACK ]
Student Publications
The Hilltopper - the college yearbook is an illustrated record of the college year. Publication of the yearbook is done by students under the guidance of the Public Relations Director. The Hilltopper is distributed in the fall to returning students and mailed to graduates.
The Core - the student newspaper is published periodically throughout the school year.
Muses - the literary publication of Middle Georgia College was founded to encourage creative writing, art, and photography among students of the college. Selected literary works and reproductions of works of art and photography are published on the MGC website during spring semester.[ BACK ]
