Music at MGC


Native Atlantan Robert M cTyre has performed Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors and Sid in Fox’ Sid the Serpent who wanted to Sing while at the University of Southern Mississippi where he is presently completing his doctorate. Prior roles include King in Miller’s Big River and Pooh-bah in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Mikado at Kennesaw State College, as well as appearing in Charles Knox’ Workshop and Susan Tepping’s Follies at Georgia State University. He has worked with Capitol City Opera, including the premiere of Michael Fauss’ Pinocchio, and with the Savoyards Musical Theatre Co. He also performed in Italy through the SSMA summer program in Sienna, Italy as well as recitals at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish in Decatur, Ga.

Mr. M cTyre holds a B.S. and M.M. from Georgia State University, a B.A. from Kennesaw State College, and is completing a D.M.A. in vocal performance at the University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM, he taught Music Theory, Music Appreciation, and Fundamental Piano Lab. He also taught voice privately at the Master’s School of Music in Roswell and at Jennings Music in Marietta.
