Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for Graduation?
Student must complete a graduation application, and return it to the Registrar's Office prior to February 15, 2008. Students will not be evaluated for graduation until the application is completed. Applications returned AFTER the deadline could delay transcripts or diplomas being mailed and/or could forfeit privileges of participating in the Commencement Ceremony.
Is there a fee?
Yes. A graduation fee of $35.00 covering the cost of the cap and gown and engraving of the diploma is due no later than February 15, 2008.
Can I purchase graduation announcements?
Yes. The MGC Campus Bookstore has graduation announcements available approximately four weeks before graduation. These can be purchased individually or in packs of ten.
When and where is graduation held?
Commencement will be held at 8:00 p.m. on May 9, 2008, at Nesmith Stadium. Students should arrive at the stadium at 7:00 p.m. to line up for the procession.
How soon will I receive details concerning graduation?
Approximately two months prior to graduation, you will receive general instructions from the Office of the Registrar concerning the date and time, caps and gowns, rehearsal and your seating arrangement for the graduation ceremony. These instructions will be sent via your campus email address.
What do I do if I need special accommodations?
If you will need any type of special accommodations for graduation, please contact the Office of the Registrar at least two weeks in advance.
What is the proper attire?
Proper attire for the graduation ceremony is dark shoes for the ladies and dark pants and shoes for the men.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas are normally sent to the student approximately four weeks after the graduation ceremony.
Will my diploma indicate that I was enrolled in GAMES?
Yes. Your diploma will have a gold embossed GAMES seal. If you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a gold seal will be added to your diploma to indicate this honor.
There will also be a GAMES Pinning Ceremony held on the same day as graduation to recognize our students who have completed two years in the Academy. Details will be forthcoming.
Be sure to request the Registrar's Office send a final transcript to your transfer institution effective the end of spring semester. Our office can NOT send a transcript for you or request your transcript be sent.
