Job Description A recent transplant from the Midwest, my first semester at Middle
Georgia College was Fall 2007. I grew up and received my education in
central and southern Illinois, having been born in Mattoon, Illinois and
having Charleston, Illinois as my permanent address for the majority of
my life (about 3 hours south of Chicago). I earned my B.S. at
MacMurray College, a small liberal arts college of about 650 students in
central Illionis. Because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, I finished at
MacMurray with a triple major and a minor (all in three and a half years!)
and then went on to earn my M.A. from Eastern Illinois University in a
year and a half. Burnt out on school, I worked at various jobs, ranging
from a graphic designer at a company making business forms to a part-
time instructor at area community colleges. Finding an interest in
teaching, I decided to earn my Ph.D. and began work towards that
degree at Southern Illinois University, taking one year off to teach full-
time at Shawnee Community Colleg in Ullin, Illinois. I graduated with my
doctorate from SIU in August of 2007 and then came to Middle Georgia
College to begin my teaching career. With Dr. Provost, I am one of
Middle Georgia College's main World Civilization professors. In addition,
I am MGC's representative for the European Council of the University
