- A current Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
- A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
- Military ID presented in person (service members only, not valid for dependents.)
Freshman / Freshman Transfers:
Freshmen are those students who have graduated from high school within the last five years and have less than 30 transferable semester hours or 45 transferable quarter hours from a regionally accredited college or university. The admissions requirements include a minimum academic core grade point average of a 2.0 for students with College-Prep diplomas and a 2.2 for students with a Tech-Prep/Vocational diploma. Starting Spring semester 2012, Freshman must supply official scores of 430 critical reading and 400 math on the SAT, or 17 English and 17 math on the ACT or 62 Reading, 32 English and 20 Algebra on the COMPASS exam.
Transfer Freshmen must meet these requirements and be in good standing at their former institution. Official transcripts from all institutions attended are required.
Students who graduate with a GED must submit official scores showing a passing score, test scores listed above (for those starting Spring semester 2012), a high school transcript up until they withdrew, and their high school graduating class must have already graduated.
Non-traditional:
Non-traditional students are those who have graduated from high school more than five years ago and do not have 30 transferable semester hours or 45 transferable quarter hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Students are required to submit official high school transcripts showing a graduation date or official GED scores. All college or university transcripts are also required. Starting Spring semester 2012, non-traditional students must supply official scores of 430 critical reading and 400 math on the SAT(less than 5 years old), or 17 English and 17 math on the ACT (less than 5 years old) or 62 Reading, 32 English and 20 Algebra on the COMPASS exam (less than a year old).
Transfers:
Transfer students have acquired more than 30 transferable semester hours or 45 transferable quarter hours from a regionally accredited college or university. The admissions requirements include a 2.0 grade point average and good standing. Applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.
Transient:
Transient students are those who have been taking courses at a college or university and wish to take a semester at MGC before returning to their home institution. These students are required to submit a Transient Permission Letter from their home institution.
International:
Students from other countries must submit an official copy of the student’s translated high school transcript and college transcript(s) if the student has attended one or more colleges. The college transcript must be evaluated by an accrediting agency if it is not a US institution. MGC requires a TOEFL score of 527 or more for the paper-based test or a 197 or more for the computer-based test or 71 or more for the internet-based test. If the student’s native tongue is English, the TOEFL is not required. Scores from an SAT or ACT exam may exempt a student from the COMPASS placement exam. International students must submit a guarantee-of-finances statement.
ACCEL/ Dual Enrollment
Students in the 11th or 12th grade who meet all eligibility requirements may take college courses as joint-enrollment students. The tuition will be covered by the HOPE Scholarship program. Students are required to have a “B” high school average in academic subjects, be enrolled in the College Prep Curriculum, and have a minimum SAT score of 970 with a critical reading score of at least 430 and a math score of at least 400 or ACT composite score of 21 with an English score and a math score of 17. Completion of the online ACCEL application is also required.
Home School
Students from home school programs must submit a transcript from their home school program or they can fill out the MGC Home School application. A student whose SAT I Composite (critical reading plus math) score is at or above 920 and has completed the equivalent of the college prep curriculum areas as documented in a home school transcript or the Home School Application qualifies for consideration of admissions. Students in this category must also meet the SAT critical reading score of 430 (or ACT English 17) and SAT math score of 400 (or ACT math 17). Applicants from home schools do not have to take the GED to be considered for admission; however, if a student does take the GED and submits a passing score, the SAT scores are not then required and the student is classified as a freshman applicant and must meet those requirements.
Certificate:
Students attending MGC as certificate seeking students must submit either an official final high school transcript with a graduation date or official passing GED scores. If a certificate seeking student has attended a college or university, then an official final college transcript from all institutions attended is required. Many certificate level programs have COMPASS score minimums that must be reached before acceptance into the certificate program.
