Preview

The 2008 Warriors will present more speed than past MGC teams but will still feature some of the offensive power the teams have displayed over the past four seasons. Returning sophs Amanda Hill (OF), Alden Pope (P), and Rocky Hemmer (C) will provide leadership necessary to ensure continuity in the program’s winning tradition. Pope, transfer sophomore pitcher Brittany Wallace, and freshman hurler Amber Conlon will lead the mound staff. Wallace, Hemmer, Pope and Conlon are expected to provide most of the RBI production. Freshmen Lacey Pierce (IF), Megan Robertson (OF), Charlee South (OF), Samantha Snipes (OF) and Brianna Cote (IF) will demonstrate more defensive and base running speed than MGC squads to date. Transfer soph infielder Leah Taylor demonstrated excellent defensive coverage at 2nd, 3rd, and SS.during the fall, as did freshmen Mary Beth Blasingame (P/OF) and Danielle Baker (IF). The Warriors will participate in four tournaments in 2008 including a six game season opener in St Augustine, FL. That event will be followed by a two day event in Dothan, AL, a one day round robin in Madison, FL, and another two day event in Savannah. The season also includes the required 10 GJCAA doubleheaders and nine non-conference double headers.
