Bachelor of Science in Flight Technology (Helicopter)
Program Description
The helicopter bachelor degree program prepares students for careers as professional aviators. Our helicopter flight training ensures a hands on learning experience enabling the student to get quality training that is above and beyond that of others in the industry. The program consists of ground and flight training with a certified flight instructor enabling the student to progress at their own rate.
The flight training offered at Middle Georgia College not only provides students with the needed certification to become a commercial helicopter pilot, but it also gives them the necessary skills and judgment to become a professional aviator. Along with the lowest flight costs in the nation, our program is unsurpassed in what we have to offer. The aviation courses for the helicopter bachelor degree include studies in aviation history, regulations, meteorology, aerodynamics, navigation, aviation management and most importantly safety. Flight courses include private, instrument, commercial, flight instructor, and instrument instructor flight. Our program also holds a Part 133 Certificate where we teach the fundamentals of operating a helicopter with an external (sling) load. We also offer an affordable flight course with NVGs (night vision goggles) utilizing the latest technology and generation of night vision goggles.
General Information
Students who anticipate taking flight courses at Middle Georgia College must be able to pass and maintain a class two medical certificate. For more information regarding this requirement, click here: FAA Medical Requirement
In addition to the flight classes, the student will be required to take general college studies such as: fine arts, mathematics, humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and business. Fine art classes include, English, literature, art, oral communication. Classes in mathematics include algebra, calculus and statistics. Natural science courses will include physics. Social sciences will include history and government. Business courses of study include economics, marketing and management.
