Associate of Applied Science in Flight Technology (Helicopter)
Program Description
The Flight Technology Associate Degree in Helicopter program prepares students for careers as professional commercial helicopter pilots. Program Graduates will be competent in the general areas of humanities or fine arts, social or behavioral sciences, and natural sciences or mathematics. In addition, graduates will be competent in the specific areas of flight navigation, aviation meteorology, aerodynamics, aviation regulations, instrument navigation, commercial flight operations, flight instructional methods, and aviation instruction design. Program Graduates who obtain the FAA Commercial / Instrument Pilot certificate and the Helicopter Flight Instructor certificate will be awarded a Flight Technology Associate of Applied Science degree.
General Information
Students who anticipate taking flight courses at Middle Georgia College must be able to pass and maintain a class two medical certificate. For more information regarding this requirement, click here: FAA Medical Requirement
During this two year program, students will acquire their private pilot helicopter certificate, commercial / instrument pilot's certificate, and a helicopter flight instructor rating. Academics are stressed throughout the program, and flying begins in the first semester. This program is offered as a full-time, day program. Some evening flight training is required.
