SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 1ST ANNUAL MGSC JURIED STUDENT ART EXHIBITION DUE

The Fine Art Student Association and the Student Art League are calling for entry of artwork from Middle Georgia State College students to the 1st Annual Middle Georgia State College Juried Student Art Exhibition.

On the Cochran Campus, entries will be accepted between March 12th and March 22rd, 2013 in the Art Studio (Russell Hall, Room 317, enter through room 315) between 8:00am – 5:30pm Monday through Thursday & between 8:00am – 12:00pm on Friday. Place entries on the large podium or black chairs.

Artworks to be submitted for competition must have a completed submission form attached to each work. These can be found in Russell Hall, Room 317 on the large podium.

Prizes and Reception*
The opening reception on the Macon Campus will be in the Art Studio (Arts Complex 245) on Thursday, March 28th, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Refreshments will be offered. Announcement of winners will be made between 6:15 and 6:45pm during the reception.

The opening reception on the Cochran Campus will be in the Peacock Gallery (Russell Hall) on Monday, April 8th, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Refreshments will be offered. Announcement of winners will be made between 6:30 and 6:45pm during the reception.

Entry Requirements*‡
Any person who has been enrolled as a full or part-time student at Middle Georgia State College during the 2012-2013 academic year is eligible to submit artwork.

Types of artwork accepted are:
Drawing
Painting
Printmaking
Photography
Digital Art
Sculpture
Ceramics
Mixed Media

Works submitted must be original and may not be a reproduction or derivative of another’s artwork, including photographs, in any capacity.

Up to 2 entries per student may be submitted

Only artworks created after January 1, 2012 will be eligible for the exhibition.

Artworks may not exceed the following specifications:
A maximum of 40” x 40” for 2-D works and a maximum of 4’ x 4’ x 4’ for 3-D works. Some weight restrictions may apply. Special consideration for exceeding these restrictions may be considered with the inclusion of a Special Consideration Request for that may be filled out and attached to the work with the submission.

Each work submitted must be ready for display (i.e. framed or provided, with instructions, in the manner in which it should be displayed) and have a completed submission sheet attached to it. If the work is not provided ready for display and/or does not have a completed submission sheet, it will not be considered for the competition.

NOTE: As a juried exhibition, not all works submitted will be selected for the show. Once the submission period is completed, the judge will select which works will be in exhibition. Students whose works are not selected will be contacted via e-mail as to which works were not selected with details for pickup.

Pick-Up
Artwork selected and displayed in the 1st Annual Middle Georgia State College Juried Student Art Exhibition will be available for pickup on Monday, April 29th, 2013 in the Art Studio (Russell Hall, Room 317) between 8:00am and 5:30pm and again on April 30th, 2013 between 8:00am and 5:30pm.

¤Artworks not retrieved by 5:30pm, Tuesday, April 30th, 2013 will be considered abandoned unless special arrangements have been made, in writing, with a club officer. As such, abandoned artworks will become property of the Student Art League. The Student Art League reserves the rights to keep, sell, donate or dispose of all or part of any artwork, which becomes property of the club.

*This Juried Student Exhibition is funded through student activity fees and is free to all members of the Middle Georgia State College campus community. All artwork submitted to the competition are self-expressions of those who created them and are not intended to represent the ideas or views of Fine Art Student Association, Student Art League, or its advisers. They do not reflect the views of the Middle Georgia State College faculty, staff, administration, student body, or the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

‡The Fine Art Student Association and the Student Art League reserve the right to reject artworks from the competition that may be considered to propagate hate against a particular person, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, sexual orientation or that is deemed by the club to be pornographic.
