Attention Middle Georgia College Residence Hall Occupants:
Congratulations on your choice of Middle Georgia College. MGC offers a great environment in which to begin the transition from high school and life at home to college life and independence. ComSouth is proud to offer our services to help make this transition a smooth one. Specifically, ComSouth provides telecommunications services for the residence halls. These services include local phone service, long distance, and ComSouth voicemail.
Local Telephone Service
Every residence hall room has local dial tone that allows you to make local calls across campus and to anywhere in Cochran or Eastman, as well as receive calls. Each room has one telephone jack; therefore, you and your roommate will share a telephone and a number. All residence hall phone numbers will have the same area code and prefix of (478) 271-xxxx. The residence hall director will have a list of the four digit suffixes (the "xxxx" assigned to each room). You will need to provide the telephone along with the cord to plug into the wall jack. There is no extra cost for this service, as it is included in your residence fees.
ComSouth Voicemail
Each telephone will automatically be equipped with ComSouth's voicemail at no additional cost. Your ComSouth voicemail will record your phone messages when you do not answer or when the line is busy. Traditional answering machines will not work on these phone lines as the lines are already equipped with voice mail. The residence hall directors will have instructions available for you so that you may setup and customize your ComSouth voicemail appropriately.
Long Distance Toll Calling
Calling Cards may be purchased from the Campus Bookstore. If you have a calling card, you should be able to dial any phone number in the continental USA except "900" numbers. You CANNOT charge anv calls or services to your residence hall room phone number . PLEASE NOTE: persons outside of Bleckley or Dodge Counties who wish to call you must dial (478) 271-xxxx.
