Q. I have forgotten my login and password, what should I do?

A. Go to the MGC website and click on the WebCT VISTA at the bottom of the page. This link will take you to the login page for WebCT VISTA.  You will find links that allow you to look up your username and/or request that your password be reset. You will be notified at the email address you supplied when your password has been reset. If your request was made after normal business hours (8AM to 5PM Mon-Thurs and 8AM to 3PM Fri) your password will be reset the next business day. Your password will be reset to your MGC ID.

Q. Will other students be able to see my grades?

A.  No, only you will be able to view your grades. However, if someone else knows your username and your password they would be able to log in to your account and view your classes and grades. It is always a good idea to keep your password secure and remember to logout every time you finish using WebCT by clicking the LOGOUT text link located in the menu bar. Navigating to another website will not log you out of WebCT. Another student could access your classes and information by hitting the 'back' button on the browser if you have not logged out of your WebCT session.

Q. How do I submit an assignment in WebCT?

A. The way you submit an assignment will depend on how the instructor has set up the assignment. Assignments require you to submit your work as an attachment. To submit an attachment, go to the assignment, click on the ‘Add Attachments’ button, click on the ‘My Computer’ icon and then browse to the file you want to upload. Once you have selected the file, click on ‘Add Selected’, you can now save your assignment as a draft or submit it. If the assignment asks you to submit a webpage, you will need to save the webpage(s) in one folder, including all of the pictures, buttons, other pages or information. Create a zip file out of the folder, upload the zip file and then select your 'start' page. You will have the option to preview your webpage before submitting the assignment.

Q. How can I review an instructor's comments and/or scores for an assignment or exam?

A. To view previously submitted quiz or survey feedback and results, you need to re-enter that quiz or survey and click "completed" link.

 **NOTE** At times the instructor may allow you to see the results of a quiz until all of the students in the class have completed the quiz. In this case you will not have a link to click on to see the quiz grades. Once the instructor releases them you will be able to click on an active link to view the quiz.

Q. Why doesn't my quiz open when I click on the Start Quiz button?

A. If a quiz does not open after clicking on the Start Quiz button, you most likely have pop-up blocking enabled. WebCT needs to be able to utilize pop-ups to open a variety of new windows. To test to see if a pop-up blocking is being used on your machine return to your "myWebCT" page and click the "Check Browser" button at the top right.

OR use the following link:

http://solar.mgc.edu/popup/

If a popup blocker is detected, you will need to disable it or configure it to allow popup's to open when accessing your WebCT class. Here’s a list of programs that are frequently involved in blocking popup's;

    * Google Toolbar
    * Norton Internet Security
    * Zone Alarm
    * Internet Explorer (Service Pak 2)

Q. What if I don't log off?

A. If you do not log off, another person may use the same computer you were using and may be able to access your WebCT account. Even if you browse to other sites that are not related to WebCT, you must still log off, because anyone could use the Back button on the browser to access your WebCT course. It is possible that they could view your grades, post messages to the Discussions using your name, check your email, make public or private postings to the calendar, etc. This could cause problems for you, so remember to log off every time you are finished using WebCT.

If the time limit for the quiz has not expired, you should be able to resume the quiz and submit your answers. If you are unable to resume your quiz, contact your professor immediately.
