STARS OVER COLLEGE HILL
Release Date:11/01/2011

Astronomy in the Park

For the first time, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with Mercer University, will bring the universe down to Tattnall Square Park. Several telescopes under the direction of Mercer Professor, Dr. Matt Marone, will be pointed to capture fascinating objects, if the sky is clear.

In conjunction with the star gazing, participants can enjoy fun, hands-on space-related and take-home craft activities in the park's gazebo, then take a journey through space in the Museum's portable planetarium, Discovery Dome, at Centenary United Methodist Church. "We're excited about doing an outreach program in the College Hill Corridor community and we're glad that we can bring our portable planetarium and other activities to the Tattnall Square neighborhood," stated Jim Greenhouse, Exhibition/Science Curator at the Museum.

Stars Over College Hill will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
