 “DARE TO DREAM SCHOLARSHIP” AWARDED AT MGC (Cochran, GA) – Janet “Jenny” McCartney, a Middle Georgia College Aviation student majoring in Fixed Wing Flight, recently received the Dare to Dream Scholarship from Women in Aviation, International (WAI), a non-profit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation fields. The Dare to Dream Scholarship is awarded based on a combination of merit, career aspirations and dedication, as well as contributions to community. McCartney said she was shocked when she found out she had won the award. “My immediate reaction was, ‘Are you serious?’ she said. “Then I just kept repeating, ‘Thank you, thank you so much. I told the committee: scholarships are like being able to run on a track versus in the sand. It makes it much easier, and you have a crowd there to cheer you on.” McCartney will travel to Dallas, Texas on March 9 to accept the award at the WAI annual conference. |
