Release Date:11/06/2012

(Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College invites students, faculty and staff, and community members to the Opening Ceremony for Heather Hutton’s “Will Work for Empty Wallets” art exhibition on November 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Walker Hall Auditorium on the Cochran campus. After the Opening Ceremony, a Gallery Talk and Opening Reception will be held at 8:00 p.m. at the Peacock Gallery in Russell Hall. The Opening Ceremony will feature a documentary about the construction of the project by the Savannah College of Art and Design M.F.A. students, as well as spoken word performances by Peter Gareis, Khalilah Ali, and Queen Sheba. Also speaking will be special guests from the Georgia Department of Labor. The Gallery Talk and Opening Reception will feature a meet-and-greet with the artist, an awards presentation, and light refreshments. Hutton, an MGC Aircraft Structural Technology Instructor, was inspired to create the project by her past personal experiences with unemployment. “Will Work for Empty Wallets,” a tribute to the unemployed of America, will be on display from November 12 to January 18 in Peacock Gallery. Peacock Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
