![]() "ANNA IN THE TROPICS" MARCH 2-5 AT MGC'S RUSSELL HALL THEATRE (Cochran, GA) – "Anna in the Tropics" opened March 2 at the Russell Hall Theater at the MGC Cochran campus. Nilo Cruz's Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the story of a Cuban family that owns a cigar factory in Ybor City, Fl., in 1929 whose domestic problems come to light when a lector is hired to read to the workers as they roll cigars. The play also explores the conflict between the old traditional methods of production and the newer, machine reliant ways as the family struggles to survive in the beginnings of the Great Depression. The play was presented by MGC's Encore Players and Delta Psi Omega, and will run March 3 and 4 at 7:30 p.m. and March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Russell Hall Theater. Admission for "Anna in the Tropics" is free for MGC students, faculty, and staff, $5.00 for the general public, and $3.00 for seniors. |
