By: Tricia Purser Release Date:05/03/2011

(Cochran, GA) – Middle Georgia College Logistics Management students recently attended the 2nd Annual Council Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Atlanta Roundtable Collegiate Supply Chain Seminar at Clayton State University. At the event, MGC students Greg Wilson and Michael Dimalanta participated in a Supply Chain and Logistics ‘knowledge’ game and came in first place for the second year in a row.

The seminar was an all day summit, with 60-75 students and professors from 8 different schools. The event featured an overview of the industry, interview practice sessions, and a Job Fair with over 30 companies from the Atlanta metro area, as well as other Southeastern U.S. locations, taking applications.

The event provided a way for students to gain awareness of current events in the supply chain industry and how they can prepare themselves to enter the industry after graduation, said Stanley Ketchel, the director of Logistics Management at MGC. “It was very professionally done,” said Ketchel. “There were a lot of networking opportunities for students.”

The colleges in attendance, including Middle Georgia College, Auburn University, Georgia Tech University, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University, Clayton State University, American International University, and Clark Atlanta University, participated in the Supply Chain and Logistics ‘knowledge’ game. The game is built like Jeopardy, with six different categories and three different levels that get progressively more difficult. The team with the highest score moves on after each round. MGC tied or won all three rounds.

“It was a proud moment for the college,” said Ketchel. “It’s a sense of accomplishment; we’re the smallest and newest player in the area, so it was a reflection on the institution and the quality of students.”
