Learning Community Essay and Art Contests:
Each year, MGC learning communities will sponsor an essay contest. The topic for each year will change, but in general the theme for the particular year will be addressed in some fashion. Essays should be no shorter than 3 pages, but should not exceed ten. All submissions should be sent to "Muses" using Submishmash. The winning essay will be published in "Muses" and the author will be awarded a cash prize. Visit www.mgc.edu/muses for more information about the writing contest, including the topic and deadline date.
In addition to the essay contest, MGC will sponsor a visual art contest. The winner of this award will have his/her art displayed in a gallery in Russell Hall, and digital photos of the winning work will appear in "Muses." Like the essay contest, more information can be found at www.mgc.edu/muses.
Learning Community Campus Events
Each semester, learning communities will sponsor two official LC events-a keynote speaker and a movie night. Both events will incorporate the theme for the academic year. These events are free, open to the public, and may be required by professors teaching a learning communities course.
Other campus events (motivational speakers, workshops, book clubs, etc.) may also incorporate the LC theme. These events may also be required by LC professors. If an event is going to incorporate the LC theme, the LC logo will be used on promotional items.
All events will be advertised on Middle Georgia College's Learning Communities Facebook page. Friend the page to stay up to date.
