Parents Have Questions - We Have Answers

How do I get an Enrollment Verification for my insurance? The student needs to log on to BannerWeb, click on Student Services and Enrollment Verification. The information is given through the National Student Clearinghouse.

Where can my son/daughter get a good student form completed for insurance? We can complete it in the Registrar's Office.

How do I get proof that my son/daughter is a current student? A couple days after the last day of Drop/Add each semester, the student can log on to BannerWeb, click on Student Services and Enrollment Verification. The information is given through the National Student Clearinghouse.

What is Bannerweb? This is a secure area for students to pay their fees, register for classes, obtain Enrollment Verifications, see any holds, review financial aid info, etc. The site is located at www.mgc.edu/banweb.

How can my son/daughter find out who their advisor is? Go to www.mgc.edu/registrar and find the links for advisors by campus.

Who do we talk to about registering my child? Your child has an advisor and the advisor advises and registers the student. A transient student can call 478-934-3165 to get registered. If the student is eligible for the PIN number, he/she can obtain this from the advisor and register on Bannerweb.

Does the Registrar register the students for classes? No - Most students are able to register online following receiving a PIN number from their advisor. Other students are registered by their advisor. Transient students and ACCEL students can contact the Registrar's Office about registration.

Does MGC send out mid-term grades? No, MGC only sends out mid-term grades to parents of GAMES students. MGC does not require faculty members to process mid-term grades on BannerWeb.

Are grades mailed out to the students at the end of the semester? No, the student logs on to BannerWeb to see their final grades at the end of the term.

How do I get forms from your website? Go to our website and go to the Registrar link and on the left under related links there will be our Registrar forms.

How can I find out about my child's grades? He/she can log into Bannerweb to view his/her grades, unless you have signed a parental consent for on their behalf.

How can I sign a parental consent? Your student can fill out the form at the Registrar's Office to allow you to have access to his/her educational records.

How much is my son/daughter's bill for classes and/or housing? A fee sheet is listed on the Registrar's and Admissions websites. Students can find out how much they owe by logging on to Bannerweb. Fees will be listed after the student registers for classes. Fall semester fees are not listed until after July 1. Housing payments are due by the fee payment deadline even if the student has not registered for classes yet. Failure to pay the housing fees by the deadline will result in the loss of the room assignment.

When are fees due and how do I pay? Go to www.mgc.edu/registrar and click on Fee Payment. Fees may be paid by credit card or check on Bannerweb or in cash at the Business Office.

To whom do I need to pay my child's graduation fees? The Business Office collects these fees. 478-934-3016. My son/daughter needs to withdraw from school. How is that done? Go to www.mgc.edu/registrar and click on Student Withdrawal Survey. The student fills it out and faxes it in OR the student can come by our office and fill it out. The survey MUST have the student's signature, not the parents'.

Is my son/daughter eligible for VA benefits if I was in the military? Visit www.gibill.va.gov and apply for benefits with the VA. Submit a copy of the application and a copy of the Letter of Eligibility to a VA representative in our office.

How do I get a transcript sent to another school? Your student can come into our office and complete a Transcript Request Form or he/she can go online to our website www.mgc.edu/registrar and print out a Transcript Request form and fax it in to our office at 478-934-3049.

Can you email my son/daughter's transcript? Currently, we can just send transcripts through the mail. A transcript can be faxed upon request; however, this is considered "unofficial" by most institutions.

My child is transferring to your school, who do I need to talk to about housing? Check out the Residence Life page at www.mgc.edu/housing or call the Residence Life Office at 478-934-3027.

When do students have to be out of the dorms? The check-in/move-out dates are listed at www.mgc.edu click on Academics and then Calendar or the Residence Life Office can tell you (478)934-3027.

How can I check on my child - he/she won't answer his/her email or phone? The campus police (478-934-3002) can do a welfare check on a student.

Who do I need to contact about campus tours? You may schedule a tour online at www.mgc.edu/admissions Click on Schedule a Campus Tour or call the Admissions Information Office at 478-934-3103.

Is my son/daughter eligible for HOPE? Financial Aid Office can provide the student with that information - www.mgc.edu/financialaid or students can call their Financial Aid Counselor. Counselors are assigned by the student's last name: A-G 478-934-3134; H-O 478-934-3171; P-Z 478-934-6198.

How does my son/daughter drop a class? The student needs to speak to his/her instructor to initiate the drop/add process.

Does MGC accept credit from technical colleges? If the technical college is accreditted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, then some credits are transferable. Typically, the 191 level courses are the college level courses.

Where is the Registrar's Office? We are currently located in Peacock Hall.

When is registration? Dates are available on the Academic Calendar on our website www.mgc.edu/academics
