Veteran Affairs

Veterans, Reservists, Guardsmen, Dependents, & Spouses (Chapters 30, 31, 33, 1606, 1607, & 35)

The GI BILL provides educational money to veterans, guardsmen, reservists, spouses and dependents. Students receive a monthly stipend that is based on attendance. Payments can only be made to the students. The amount depends on the number of credit hours in which the student is currently enrolled. Hence, a reduction or stop of payment will be in effect immediately following a student's drop, withdrawal, and/or audit during the term for which enrollment certification has been processed. Payments are made directly to the student from the Department of Veteran Affairs at the end of each month in which your enrollment has been certified. Tuition and fees are paid to the college for students eligible under Chapter 33.

The Veteran's Office is located on the Main Campus in Grace Hall.

If you are a Veteran, you have to complete an application for VA Benefits. If you have completed an application and have received a Certificate of Eligibility from the Regional Office in Atlanta stating you are eligible for benefits, then a copy of that letter needs to be forwarded to the Registrar's Office. If you are a child of a veteran, you are eligible to receive benefits if the veteran is deceased or has been ruled 100% disabled by the VA or if the veteran has transferred his/her benefits to you.

If you have not completed an Application for Education Benefits, please log on to www.gibill.va.gov . Please submit it online. Make a copy and send it to the Registrar's Office with a copy of your DD-214. Once you have applied and been accepted to the college, you will be allowed to register for classes during specific dates. Please inform the Registrar after you have registered for class. At that time an Enrollment Certification will be submitted to the Regional Office in Atlanta by the Registrar's Office. Any changes to the student's schedule needs to be reported to the Registrar's Office.

If you have received VA benefits from another institution, complete a "Change of Program/Place of Training" form.
