College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Middle Georgia College serves as a national test center for CLEP. All CLEP exams (with the exception of essays portions) are administered on the computer. Since policies regarding CLEP credits differ at various institutions, candidates should verify which tests are accepted by their institution.
CLEP exams offered through MGC are listed below. If you are a MGC student, check further below under MGC CLEP Policy for "Approved CLEP Exams" to determine which exams are approved for related courses (not all CLEP exams offered are approved for earning credit at MGC).

MGC CLEP Policy
MGC awards credit for selected CLEP exams (see MGC Approved CLEP Exams below). For credit to be granted, a minimum score of 50 must be achieved. Please note: CLEP grades will not affect a student's GPA.

CLEP Fees
The total cost of each exam is $90 ($75 payable to CLEP and $20 payable to MGC for each exam). Check, money order, and credit cards are acceptable for the CLEP exam fee of $70; however, the $20 testing site fee for MGC must be in the form of check, money order or CASH. If paying by check, each CLEP fee must have a separate $70.00 check or money order for each exam. The service fee is non-refundable.
All exams will take place in the Testing Center on the MGC campus.
On the day of the test candidates are to bring:
- one (1) form of photo-bearing identification, and
- payment for testing fees.

Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT)
This test is used for admission into pharmacy college. This test is administered through the policies and procedures established by The Psychological Corporation. These policies and procedures can be found in the registration bulletin.

Independent Study Exam
These exams are administered to students participating in correspondence courses through the University System of Georgia or from other educational agencies. This test is given on an arranged basis. Students must contact the testing office at Middle Georgia College before confirming a test date. The test results will be forwarded to the candidate by the educational agency for which the program was administered.

Regents' Testing
The Regents' Test is designed to certify the reading and writing competency of all students seeking an associate's or bachelor's degree in the University System of Georgia.
The exam has two sections: Essay and Reading. Students are given 60 minutes to complete each section and are required to take both sections at one sitting. The Essay section requires the student to write a clear, organized essay on one of four topics; the Reading section requires the student to demonstrate reading comprehension skills.
Students may choose to take the test any time before 45 semester hours are completed; completion of English 1101 is recommended before taking the test. Students who have earned 45 credit hours and have not satisfied the requirements must take the Regents' Skills courses during each subsequent semester of enrollment.
Students transferring from one school to another within the University System of Georgia must comply with all University System rules. Transfer students with 30 or more semester hours from an institution or program that does not require the Regents' Test should take the test during their 1st semester of enrollment at MGC.
Preparing for the Regents' Test

Exempting the Regents' Test
Read the section entitled System Policy and Procedures from the above Regents' web site to see if you are exempt from one or both parts of the exam or to see if you should enroll for the Regents' Reading Skills and Regents' Writing Skills courses.
One way students are exempt from the Reading portion of the Regents' Test is by scoring 510 or more on the national SAT-I Verbal test or by scoring 23 or more on the national ACT Reading test.
One way students are exempt from the Writing portion of the Regents' Test is with the following SAT or ACT criteria:
SAT-I Verbal score of 530 and above for students who earn an "A" in English 1101
SAT-I Verbal score of 590 and above for students who earn a "B" in English 1101
ACT English score of 23 and above for students who earn an "A" in English 1101
ACT English score of 26 and above for students who earn a "B" in English 1101
Middle Georgia College student records must reflect these test scores and grades for you to be eligible to receive the exemptions.
COMPASS Test
Prior to taking the COMPASS test you must have pre approval from the Coordinator of Testing before COMPASS scores will be sent to another institution.
